Hi, I’m Elaine, a Nutritionist & Biochemist.
I have a Double Degree in Nutrition and Biochemistry from Otago University and I am a certified Genomic Wellness Practitioner.
Since graduating from Otago University, I have been practicing as a Qualified Nutritionist since 2015. I then continued my training to become a Certified Nutritional Genomic Consultant, Fit-Genes Practitioner, Gut Microbiome Practitioner, and an emotional eating coach to help my clients who struggle with emotional eating patterns.
I believe in taking care of the whole person. By paying attention to the connection between the mind, body, and gut-health. Many of us know what to eat, but we still eat processed sugar laden foods or just don’t know how to shift bad habits. This is because our relationship with food is often emotional. I believe changing our mindset can help shift our emotions, which then influences our food choices and other actions such as going to the gym or staying on the couch.
While most nutritionists will factor for diet and lifestyle, I also consider my client’s genetics, gut microbiome balance and food sensitivities. Through my Biochemistry degree I gained great understanding of cellular health, genetics, and metabolism and this has helped me to go a step further than most Nutritionists would when it comes to treating clients with complex health concerns.
I believe in taking the guesswork out of nutrition by using a science-based approach combined with mindset coaching to help you shift limiting beliefs and habits. So, you can transform your health and quality of life.
Without lifestyle changes, a perfect diet is not enough. The damage that unhealthy stress, emotional upheaval, lack of sleep, over or under-eating, no exercise or over exercising can cause to your body is enormous. I am not a believer in one size fits all fad diets or restrictive calorie counting, so if you are looking for a quick fix to lose weight in record time, I’m not the Nutritionist for you.
I believe in taking a balanced and sustainable approach to reaching optimal health. With a focus on nourishing our bodies with nutritious whole foods that are as close to their natural state as possible.
